FPF: Food Contact Chemicals Database (FCCdb)

A team of researchers led by the Food Packaging Forum (FPF) have launched the first publicly available database of food contact chemicals (FCCs), accompanied by a scientific article in the peer-reviewed journal Environment International.

The database identifies 12,285 food contact chemicals that could be used in the production of food contact materials and articles. 608 chemicals were highlighted as the most hazardous, and a further 1,411 chemicals of potential concern. Over a quarter of the chemicals identified did not have publicly available hazard information, suggesting a concerning safety data gap.
