ABOUT US

About The Campaign

The Toxic-Free Food Packaging campaign was established in 2022 with the goal of creating a toxic-free environment where nobody should have to worry about the presence of health-harming chemicals in the products that come into contact with our food.

ABOUT US

a collaborative campaign for a toxic-free future

This site is a one-stop shop for policymakers, advocates, and consumers to understand how chemicals in food contact materials can put our health and the environment at risk. Several organisations have participated in this work. The core organisations behind the website include Zero Waste Europe, CHEMTrust, and HEAL, with input provided by BEUC and others. Our library features resources from across civil society to bring together a wealth of knowledge and understanding on these important issues.

Core Organisations

CHEMTrust

CHEM Trust is a charity based in Germany and the UK, with the overarching aim to prevent synthetic chemicals from causing long term damage to wildlife or humans, by ensuring that chemicals which cause such harm are substituted with safer alternatives.

Zero Waste Europe

Zero Waste Europe (ZWE) is the European network of communities, local leaders, experts, and change agents working towards the elimination of waste in our society. We advocate for sustainable systems and the redesign of our relationship with resources, to accelerate a just transition towards zero waste for the benefit of people and the planet.

Health and Environment Alliance

The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) is the leading European not-for-profit organisation addressing how the natural and built environments affect health in the European Union (EU) and beyond.
